Reach Us
A good share of our articles began life as someone else's question, so we are always glad to hear from readers. The form on this page opens your own email program with a message ready to go, or you can write directly to notes@britishhotelsguide.com.
Messages we especially welcome
- Corrections. A fact that has changed, a step that did not work for you, or a link that leads nowhere.
- Questions. Something about running a home, a gadget, a hobby or a trip that you could not find a clear answer to.
- Ideas. A topic you think deserves a calm, practical guide.
- Feedback. Parts of an article that felt confusing, too long or not long enough.
What helps us help you
If you are reporting a problem, include the address of the article and a sentence or two on what seems wrong. If you are suggesting a topic, tell us a little about your situation; knowing why you need the answer usually makes the article better. There is no need for formality, and short messages are perfectly fine.
What we cannot do
We are a small editorial team, not a customer service centre. Please bear in mind that:
- we have no access to accounts with any television, broadband or streaming provider, so we cannot fix billing, logins or channels;
- we cannot recommend a specific tradesperson, hotel or company for you;
- we do not give personal medical, legal, financial or electrical advice;
- a provider named in one of our guides is a pointer, not a promise, so please check its terms yourself.
For appliance faults, damp that will not shift or anything involving wiring, a qualified professional who can see the problem in person is the right person to call.
What happens after you write
One of the four of us reads every note that arrives. We reply as soon as we reasonably can, though a careful answer sometimes takes a few days. If your note leads to a change in an article, the process is described on Fixing Our Mistakes. Your email is used only to deal with your message, as set out on our Data Protection page.
While you are here
You may find your answer has already been written. Browse the subjects on Our Beat, or try one of our recent household guides, such as cleaning an oven without harsh fumes.
Handy to know before writing
Questions people ask about writing to us
A few practical details so your message lands in the right place.
When can I expect an answer?
As soon as we reasonably can. Simple replies are often quick, while a correction that needs checking may take a few days.
Can you help with my television or broadband account?
Sadly not. We have no link to any provider, so account, billing and connection problems are best taken to the company itself.
Will you feature my business or product?
Send a short note on what it is and who it helps. We cannot promise to write about it, and readers should never read a mention as an endorsement.
Is my email address kept?
Only for as long as it takes to deal with your message. The data protection page explains the details.
A word from the desk
Short notes are welcome
You do not need to write an essay. A single line pointing at a stale detail or a confusing step is often the most useful message we receive all week.
If your question is about a fault with an appliance, the wiring or the plumbing, please speak to someone who can see it in person first. We would rather you were safe than waiting for our reply.
